DISCOVERING YOUR STYLE
Creative expression stems from a foundation of inner truth which enables one to be totally uninhibited in what one feels and expresses. The search for artistic style is part of an ever changing process that correlates to a personal quest for self awareness and empowerment.
Young artists usually struggle with understanding how to achieve individuality in their work, and often focus on more of an external approach to discovery rather than concentrating on the internal work that is needed to create a unique style. The more an artist can understand their own inner workings, the more creative their interpretations will become. The process of emotional recovery from childhood will make it easier to seek more risk taking in our lives and our work.
Along with artistic training specific to one's area of interest, an artist must educate the soul as well and build a foundation for inner strength. Without a deep awareness of the individual, creative growth can not take place. It is important to work on emotional issues that hold back spiritual growth and find a renewed sense of freedom from the limitations of the past. Living one's life as an artistic journey can produce a lifestyle filled with excitement, independence and personal empowerment. Remember there is little creative development without self discovery, but the road to inner truth can indeed be a difficult one. Searching out the truth is often a very lonely and painful experience. Most of us come from a fear based background--fear of rejection, success, being different--so it is essential to release the power that fear has had in our lives and dare to dream. An artist's life is all about dreams and enabling them to come to fruition.
Individuality and self expression is part of the creative process, and risk taking should be a way of life--so let go and discover the joy of uncertainty.
